it wasn't until i met my husband many years ago that i realised that not all familys were the same as mine, my family love food we love talking about it, planning what we will be eating and then talking about it some more. I have been told by my husband that i am obsessed with food and i think he is right. i have turned my obsession into a job i love.
While i was at college studying Hotel Managment i realised that the place i loved being in most was the kitchen. I loved the pace and slight madness of working in a restaurant kitchen. i started cooking professionaly when i was 19 in London and knew this was perfect me, over the years i have traveled and worked abroad in many countires. i met my husband in 1997 while working in Greece and then moved to holland for the next 12 years we were very lucky to move to Norway in 2010 and have been here ever since. When we arrived i was offered an amazing opportunity to work in a barnehage to learn Norwegian. it was fantastic i got to work with some lovely ladies and learn a new and difficult language!!
So the job i have now is the perfect combination. i work at Idrettsparken Barnehage in Kongsberg it is a new barnehage with a purpose built kitchen.I cook for a round 120 people big and small everyday. we have a week menu for breakfast and lunch, breakfast is normaly porridge served with cinnamon, banans and rasins or muesli wih milk. lunch we have fish twice a week, soup with homemamde croutons, i bake one day and the other day we have fresh bread delivered. Most of the recipes i make up myself or use part of others peoples ideas. Cooking for children has been very diiferent than restaurant cooking but i love learning what they like to eat and providing healthy but interesting food for them. i hope this blog helps to give ideas and inspiration.
