i love pasta, it is so useful and always turns out great. Here is a firm family hit pasta with a cheesy sauce and loads of vegetables. topped with cheese and if you are feeling very indulgent crushed crisps. perfect!!!
Recipe
50 gr butter
50 gr flour
300 ml milk
80 gr grated hard cheese e.g chedder of gulost
40 gr grated parmesam
black pepper and salt
500 gr pasta
2 carrots grated
2 large handfuls of frozen peas
half a broccoli cut into small chunks
half a red pepper cut into long thin slices
3 large handfuls of crisps (chips) any flavout you like!!
Pre heat oven to 195 oc
In a saucepan melt the butter then add the flour, cook untill it looks like breadcrumbs then add the milk a little at a time till you have a smooth sauce. cook on a low heat for about 5 mins, add the grated cheese and season to taste with the salt and pepper. If it is a little thick add more milk. It is better to have a bit of a runny sauce as the pasta will absorb it while it is in the oven.
Cook the pasta in boiling water but drain it before it is ready, you need the pasta to have a bit of a bite to it ( it will carry on cooking in the oven). drain the pasta and add to the sauce. Then add all the vegetables to the pasta and and sauce. tip all the ingredients into an ovenproof dish. At the point you can sprinkle a bit of extra cheese on top if you like, but it works well without. Bake in a pre heated oven till it is golden and bubbling it should take about 20 - 25 mins. Just before you take it out add the crispif you like and cook for another 2 mins. Then you are ready to eat, great sereved with a salad or just on it's own. Enjoy
