prim a norwegain favourite

Prim is made from Norwegian Brown cheese, Brunost . It is made from a mix of goats and cows milk, it has a sort of sweet fudgy caramlised taste. If you can try some but i do think Brunost is a lot like marmite ( an english salty pålegg) you either love it or hate it. when i make it i use a mix of spices which gives it a bit of christmast taste and the children have started to call it pepperkaker prim (gingerbread prim). enjoy!

A bit difficult to give amounts beacuse i only make it when i have left over ends from the cheese, but this is a rough recipe next time i make it will take more photos.

Ingredients

500 gr         brown cheese

3 dl             milk

5 tbs           icing sugar

1\2 ts         cinnamon

1\2 ts         vanilla powder/ extract

1\2 ts         cardamom powder

a pinch of   crushed cloves

in a large saucepan put in all the left over pieces of brown cheese try and chop them up so they are about the same size. put in milk fill it to about half way up the cheese. then add icing sugar, vanilla sugar, cinnamon, cardammon and crushed cloves. cook over a low heat till all the cheese mas melted then give it all a good mix with a whisk till you have a smooth paste.

i normally put the prim in small plastic boxes with a lid and store them in the fridge it will keep for about a week. taste great on bread with butter but also with waffels. yum.
